Cautiously Entering the Sakkara Complex (& nervously wondering if Hollywood tales of booby traps are true, as I waddle off from the group)
My 1st Glimpse of the Zoser Pyramid (Seems the 'psst, come follow me duck' didn't end in a pot of boiling water, just made me a bit lighter in baksheesh).
No question about it, the Sakarra architech, Imhotep, definitely liked his columns.
In the Shadow of the Zoser Pyramid (or at least I would be, if there seemed to be any shadows out here).
Maybe I should have been more aware of the drop behind me before I'd sat there, then it really would have been Indiana Duck.
Such great works of architecture, that the building never really stops. These are not structures that you'd want to lose to erosion.
Wondering how wise it is to hang with stone cobras? This is Egypt, afterall, a land where magic fills the air.
On the otherhand, you only waddle once, if you can't waddle up to a stone cobra, where would be the adventure in that?

A Day's Waddle to Alexandria
Location: Alexandria, Egypt
Easing into the culture with another yellow floater.
I don't think this bird was local, but she certainly had lovely plummage.
Hanging at the Library in Alexandria. I am afterall a bird brain.
Flocking my celeb status. Everyone wanted to be 'seen' in my shots.
Always amazed at how similar youth are, all over the World. Just another day hanging at the library.
These two are definitely for us birds. They're such cuties!

Eased my way into Egyptian culture hanging with another yellow floater, before waddling on over to the Library at Alexandria to soak up some knowledge.  That is afterall why they call us bird brains!

Lucy Duck Dives at Commercial Christmas Gack

As we travel, we have been introducing Lucy (from Chasing Ducks Blog) to it all ~ the good, the less than desirable and the ugly in the cultures we visit ~ allowing her to formulate her own opinions. She's not a shy duck, she'll tell us what she thinks.
And that she did, at North American Commercial Christmas gack. Expressing her two quacks, by taking a duck dive.

Ok , you go back to Google if it fits your needs.I have opposite experience: DuckDuckGo shows faster what I want to know, Google shows faster what I want to buy.And I don’t buy much over the Internet. Especially avoid aggressively advertised stuff.I discovered DuckDuckGo last year and use both.I miss good old Alta Vista. Now it is owned by Yahoo and not as good as it was.(I don’t say that Yahoo is the reason. After all these years Alta Vista probably has another people to work there, regardless the ownership.)

That’s pretty weak. You need Google to decipher problems? Why don’t you read the source code? How do you work when you’re on a plane or otherwise without connection to the internet? This dependency on the “web” really can’t be healthy. For what it’s worth: I’ve been using DuckDuckGo for over a year now and haven’t looked back. No plans to look back either.I don’t accept your conclusion. Nobody should have to rely on Google (or any other privacy invading institution) to get their job done. Once that starts being true, the world will be in a really fucked up state.

You need Google to decipher problems? Why don’t you read the source code?I don’t *need* Google, but it sure as hell helps. Reading source code isn’t an option with proprietary software (unfortunately, not everything is open source – despire our efforts). I’m sure DuckDuckGo can find everything Google can (I think in the end they use Google to find the results as well), but having my search results tailored to my specific needs and history just helps me find what I need -much- faster.Nobody should have to rely on Google (or any other privacy invading institution) to get their job done. Once that starts being true, the world will be in a really fucked up state.True: but I would gladly give up part of my privacy if it means I can be more effective at what I do. If DuckDuckGo forces me to go through 5+ pages of search results before I find what I need, and Google can show it to me on the first page, I’ll be using Google.
